Morgan Spurlock is a writer and producer. He was born in Parkersburg West Virginia in 1970. Morgan attended school in West Virginia and then went on to New York to attend Tisch University School of Arts. He graduated from Tisch in 1993 with a degree in Film (Contactmusic, 2016). After graduation he wrote plays for a while and was somewhat successful. He had won an award for one of his plays entitled the Phoenix. He also created a show for MTV called I Bet You Will. The show was about people on the street doing unusual things sometimes disgusting things for cash (IMDb, 2016).
Morgan has gone on to produce documentaries. Morgan’s real claim to fame came in 2004 with his documentary Super-Size Me, which documented how unhealthy it was to eat nothing but McDonald’s food for three meals a day for thirty days. He tracked how his health deteriorated and he gained weight. The documentary was nominated for an Oscar for Best Documentary (Contactmusic, 2016). He has gone on to create other notable documentaries such as The Greatest Movie Ever Sold and Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden? To name a few.
It can be seen in Morgan’s documentaries that he always tries to add some humor in topics that are very serious in nature. By doing this it helps keep the audience interested in the facts that he is presenting in the documentaries. Today Morgan is involved with many projects which are mostly documentaries. Again with these projects it can be seen that he has added humor into the projects. He is mostly focused on distributing documentaries at this time and producing and directing them. He has a new project in production for 2016 for which he is the executive director entitled Good After Bad about a seventeen year old girl at the cross roads in her life (Contactmusic, 2016).
